Carbon capture and storage (CSS) is one approach towards reducing CO2 in the atmosphere. The CO2 is captured at the source (large industrial producer, e.g. power plant or ethanol maker) and captured CO2 is being stored underground into a stable geological formation.
Micro-seismic monitoring is necessary to control the stability of the seal formation and the prevention of induced seismicity.
